Honors Distinguished Scholars Program

Whether you’re driven by innovation, inspired by service, or destined to lead—the Honors Distinguished Scholars Program will help you build a foundation and shape your legacy. All students in the Honors College are considered Scholars.

 

This program elevates a select group of those Scholars with comprehensive support, enrichment, and distinction. As a Distinguished Scholar, you’ll join a prestigious cohort committed to academic excellence, personal growth, and purposeful impact. This is more than a scholarship—it’s an opportunity to thrive, lead, and leave a lasting mark.

Lewis and Elizabeth Dowdy Scholarship

(Established Fall 2008)

 

Named after Dr. Lewis C. Dowdy, the sixth president and first chancellor of NC A&T State University, and his wife, Elizabeth. Dr. Dowdy led the university for 21 years with a vision of academic excellence and leadership. This scholarship recognizes academic distinction, moral character, and community engagement.

Cheatham-White Scholarship

(Established Fall 2018)

 

Named in honor of Henry P. Cheatham and George Henry White, African American U.S. Congressmen from North Carolina, this scholarship promotes intellectual curiosity, leadership, and public service.

February One Scholarship

(Established Fall 2021)

 

Honors the legacy of the A&T Four who led the 1960 Greensboro Sit-In. This award supports students committed to social justice, civic leadership, and transformative impact.
